FITTER

General Information (Job Description)

Weather it is a machine manufacturing or machine installation or machine maintenance or plant operation; nothing is possible without a Fitter. Fitter is always a backbone of industry. Every industry needs a fitter for its operation and maintenance. Fitter is an all-round course where allied trade skills like welding, turning, plumbing, blacksmithing, sheet metal working are also imparted, thus a fitter becomes multi skilled worker. On completion of the course, trainees become able to repair and maintain machine components, using skills such as filing, hacksawing, chipping, drilling, reaming, screw cutting and scrapping. Fitter also usage precision measuring instruments and read machine drawing along with operating lathe machines, grinding machines, electric and gas welding, power hacksaw machines and C.N.C. lathe machine.

Trainees have opportunity to get employment in Railways, Roadways, Armed Forces, All production & manufacturing industry, Power Plants, Public Sector Companies etc. Besides of salaried employment in various establishments, Fitter may join the field of engineering teaching & training or self employment by establishing own workshop.

• Minimum Qualification: 10th grade under the 10+2 scheme or equivalent
